Hoffmann first learned of the potential benefits servo technology could bring to its facilities from SEYI-Europe. After learning of the expected energy savings and productivity advantages, the company decided to invest in a SEYI SD2-400 integrated with a coil feedline.

This investment in servo technology proved to be invaluable to Hoffmann as its manufacturing processes saw immediate benefits in the form of lower operational costs, user-friendly operations, and job storage capacity in the system’s controls. The SD2-400 generates power via SEYI’s proprietary servo motor which integrates directly to the pinion shaft and eliminates the traditional flywheel. This design allows the motor to regenerate power for optimal energy usage by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy, which can be stored and recycled using capacitors.

Hoffmann has also experienced increased uptime and efficiency in die changes with its SD2-400. Equipped with a 200-job recipe storage, the SD2-400 minimizes setup time, allowing for quick die changes and easy programming of stroke profiles for each die. This process has significantly improved Hoffmann's uptime, boosting overall productivity.

Looking ahead, Hoffmann is exploring the possibility of transiting workpieces from laser processing to stamping processing. The company plans to collaborate on die development to further enhance production speed. Additionally, Hoffmann is considering investing in additional SEYI presses to meet their production capacity requirements.
