Servo Press Application: Demonstration Video of Fuel Cell Metallic Bipolar Plate Stamping

Metallic Bipolar Plate Formed by Seyi's Servo Press

Metallic bipolar plates are a key component in fuel cells. A fuel cell stack is composed of multiple single cells, and the bipolar plates are the flat components sandwiched between each cell, serving to isolate fuel gases from air. Using metallic bipolar plates not only significantly reduces the size of the fuel cell stack, but also offers the advantage of producing large-area, flat separator plates.

Building upon the solid foundation of the existing SD series servo presses, SEYI has further optimized the structural rigidity and machine performance to enhance the capabilities in precision flow channel forming of ultra-thin sheet materials. This advancement meets the demanding requirements of high-precision processing for metallic bipolar plates used in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The stamping process for metallic bipolar plates generally includes four stages: forming for the outer shape, deep drawing for the flow channel, re-sizing, and piercing. In this demonstration, SEYI’s high-rigidity and high-precision straight-side servo press SD series, paired with the fuel cell flow channel plate demo die, performs the stamping process for metallic bipolar plates. The demonstration showcases the SD servo press’s performance advantages in channel stamping, forming depth control, and thin sheet stamping. It meets the high standards of flow channel forming required by new energy vehicles and accommodates various challenging forming conditions, addressing diverse customer stamping needs.
