SEYI press assists customers with the energy-saving advantage for low carbon manufacturing

As climate change accelerates, the global push for carbon reduction has gained urgency. Governments worldwide have committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, implementing policies to drive sustainability. In this landscape, low-carbon manufacturing has become essential. Greenhouse gas emissions are not confined to factory floors; they exist throughout the entire supply chain—from material procurement to production and product lifecycle. To minimize carbon footprints, manufacturers should adopt energy-efficient technologies at every stage.

Case Study: A German metal stamper projects to introduce servo press for energy saving needs

In recent years, the German government has been at the forefront of energy transformation in various industries. Among them, the government proposed a subsidy program for the manufacturing industry, allowing companies that are replacing or adding low-energy-consuming equipment to receive subsidies.

A company in Ruhr, Germany, demonstrated the benefits of new servo technology. The company was consuming nearly 150,000 kW of power consumption annually using a hydraulic press line. Conversely, if the company used a servo press, SEYI estimated that power consumption could drop to just 50,000 kW per year - all while doubling production output. The company projects a staggering 400% increase in its 10-year profit as a result of this transition.

This case demonstrates the critical role of government support in driving energy transformation, conservation, and carbon reduction amid today’s energy crisis. Companies are not only encouraged to replace older machinery, but it also allows them to actively intervene and fully support the goal of reducing carbon emissions.

SEYI Presses: Energy-saving and high efficiency drive low carbon manufacturing

SEYI’s SD1 Servo Press and SNS2 Crank Press were awarded the Energy-Saving Gold Label for their innovative designs by Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessary Builders’ Association (TMBA) on 2nd December 2024.

The use of servo presses in metal stamping is becoming increasingly popular due to their energy-saving advantages and forming abilities. Reducing energy consumption and material waste contributes to carbon reduction, helping manufacturers achieve a balance between emitting and absorbing their carbon. The adoption of the servo press will be a significant step for environmental protection. Some main features include:

SD1 Series

              1. Structural Optimization: Modifying component structures has reduced the overall machine weight, cutting product carbon footprint by 30% approximately.
              2. High-Performance Key Components: With its Direct-Drive Servo Motor, the SD1 incorporates an eco-friendliness concept, low total clearance, low power consumption, and fan cooling allows SEYI servo presses to maintain high efficiency while enhancing product quality and accuracy.
              3. Power Management: Utilizing power leveling design, the SD1 can minimize the impact of instantaneous currents generated during stamping process, ensuring voltage stability of the power source. Additionally, capacitors can store the excess energy for reuse, enabling power regeneration.
              4. Smart Standby Function: Standby time can be set according to requirements. With a one-hour standby per day, SEYI presses significantly reduce annual energy consumption, enhancing efficiency and sustainability.
              5. Power Consumption Monitor System: The system provides real-time monitoring of electricity usage and enables rapid traceability of the machine's power consumption record on daily/weekly/monthly basis.

New generation of energy-saving SNS2 series

The new generation of energy-saving SNS2 series has been awarded the highest-level Energy Saving Label -- Gold Label by TMBA.  By optimizing structural components, adopting high-performance parts, incorporating energy-saving modules, and integrating smart technology, the SNS2 series reduces carbon emissions of 1,000kgCO2e/yr approximately compared to its original design.

SNS2 Series

  1. Structural Optimization: Modifying component structures has reduced the overall machine weight, cutting product carbon footprint by roughly 50%.
  2. High-Performance Key Components: IE3-grade motors improve efficiency by 3%.
  3. Smart Standby Function: Standby time can be set according to requirements. Based on a motor standby frequency of one hour every time, once a day, a significant amount of power can be saved annually.
  4. Power Regenerative Unit: SNS2 series can be equipped with a Power Regenerative Unit, enabling customers to return regenerative energy to the power grid with an efficiency of over 95%.
  5. Power Consumption Monitor System: it provides real-time monitoring of electricity usage and enables rapid traceability of the machine's power consumption record on daily/weekly/monthly basis.
